Terms of Use

This text is a draft; it must be reviewed by a lawyer before publication.

These terms govern the use of Firas. How your personal data is processed is explained in the "Privacy policy" and the "Personal data notice (KVKK)".

1. The service

Firas is a culture and entertainment app that looks at knowing people through two windows:

• The classical window: the Ottoman classical "sciences of reading people" (physiognomy, dream interpretation, twitching) and moral counsel, presented faithfully to pre-1900 classical sources, with every judgment tied to its source.
• The modern window: the birth chart, found by astronomical calculation and shown in modern language.

The two windows are always shown separately in the app.

2. Cultural and entertainment purpose

• Classical content: This is an 18th-century way of seeing; it does not measure personality; it is a cultural experience. It says "this is how Marifetname would have looked at you"; it does not say "this is your character".
• Astrology is not a scientific method; the birth chart interpretation is for entertainment and personal insight.
• Firas is not a scientific assessment, a psychological test, or medical, legal or financial advice. It makes no claim about your personality, your health or your future. Dream interpretations and twitching judgments are historical texts, not prophecy. Do not base your important decisions on Firas's readings; if you have a concern about your health or your state of mind, consult a professional.

3. Age and conditions of use

• You must be over 18 to use Firas.
• You may only have your own face and hand read. You must not use a photo or image of another person, of celebrities or of children. You must not use the character builder to analyze real people either; the character builder is for fictional characters.
• In two-person harmony, the other person's data comes only through the code they read on their own phone and gave you of their own free will.
• You may not use the app for purposes that are unlawful, that demean others or that violate their rights; you must not send automated or excessive requests to the server.

4. Content sources and copyright

• The classical texts are in the public domain: the Marifetname of Erzurumlu İbrahim Hakkı (1757; the moral and etiquette sections from the Matbaa-i Âmire 1330/1912 edition), the Kıyafetname of Hamdullah Hamdi, and the 18th-century Turkish Tâbirnâme in the Ibn Sirin tradition. The couplets are transliterations from the originals of the works.
• The meaning renderings of the judgments and explanations, Firas's voice, the interface texts, the translations, the design and the software belong to Firas; they may not be copied or distributed without permission. The English and Arabic translations were made from the Turkish original.
• The licenses of the open-source software, fonts and datasets used in the app are on the Profile → "Licenses" page.
• You may share your own share cards and harmony code for personal purposes.

5. AI interpretation

The AI interpretation is not in use at the moment. If it is turned on, you will be told in advance; its use will be optional and your approval will be asked before the first use.

6. Limitation of liability

Firas is provided as is. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for decisions you make based on the readings and interpretations, for the app not working without interruption or without errors, or for the loss of data you store on your device. Because records are kept only on your device, they cannot be recovered if you lose your phone or uninstall the app. Your statutory rights as a consumer are reserved.

7. Changes

We may change these terms; the current text is always available in the app. We will announce material changes in the app. If the terms change, the app shows the new version at launch; to continue, you are asked to read and accept the new version separately. The version you accepted and the moment are kept only on your device, encrypted.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye; in consumer transactions, consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts have jurisdiction.
